Great News…

Our next competition for 2010 will be held at Oakleigh Pistol Club.

The ninth competition for the year is on Sunday 12th September 2010.

Melways 79 C10. Time: Between 10AM and 2.30PM.

There will be 3 IPSC stages. Approx 50-100 rounds.

Semi-auto or Revolver handguns welcome. For those who do not own a handgun,

Calibre Sports will have club guns for hire.

Entry fee will be $15.00 for Calibre members (Licenced)…$20.00 for non-members.

Supervised shoot for unlicenced shooters available for $45.00. Includes admission fee, gun hire and ammunition (approx 50 rounds).

Members can come at any time between 10AM and 2.30PM, shoot all stages at once and than leave. Depending on the numbers, hopefully you won’t have to wait long for your turn. We need to finish shooting at 2.30PM so we can pack up the ranges by 3PM. All members are encouraged to help set up and dismantle the ranges. Lets not leave it to the same members all the time. Your help is appreciated.

Everyone who shoots on the day will be eligible for the end of year club trophies.

Hopefully we will see many members on the day...see you there.

Rules of Range participation and conduct.

 

General Conduct:

 

· Shooters must not be under the visible effects of drugs or alcohol.

· Appropriate conduct & language must be displayed, abusive or disruptive behaviour is prohibited.

· Shooters must heed/obey rules of range conduct and any directions given by any member of the Committee or the Range Officer in charge.

Unsafe gun handling – sweeping, breaking 180, shooting over berms, shooting at unapproved targets or anything else unsafe is prohibited.

 

Dress:

 

· No camo., military or police garments to be worn on the range.

Suitable eye and ear protection to be worn at all times.

 

Transport of guns:

 

Handguns must be carried unloaded in a gun bag or suitable case to the range. They may then be holstered in the designated safety areas and carried decocked with the magazine well empty in an approved holster, on any of the club ranges.

 

Approved Handguns, handgun rigs and belts:

 

· Only approved calibres – may be fired on the range.

· Handguns must not be left unattended at any time while on the range.

· Only one handgun may be carried & holstered at any one time on the range.

· Handguns with shoulder stocks & foregrips are prohibited.

· Handguns capable of ‘burst’ fire or fully automatic discharge are prohibited.

· Holsters must cover the trigger guard and be of a type approved for use by the Committee.

· No shoulder holsters, concealed or tie down rigs are allowed.

· No holsters with the heel of the butt of the handgun below the top of the belt are allowed.

· Belts carrying holsters must be worn at waist level (hip level for women), belt and inner belt must be firmly secured to the waist through a minimum of 3 belt loops.

Ammo & spare ammo must be carried in proper retention devices attached securely to the belt.

 

Approved Targets:

 

Only approved targets such as paper or steel may be used on the range. No frangible targets are allowed unless specifically authorised by the Committee.

 

Safety Areas:

 

Unloaded handguns may only be handled in the designated Safety Areas wherein any type of ammo is strictly prohibited.

 

Safety Violations:

 

· A safety violation will disqualify a shooter from a match.

Safety violations include but are not limited to the following:

 

Breaking 180 degrees at any time whilst on the firing line.

Leaving the firing line with a loaded handgun.

Holstering or casing a handgun that has not been cleared.

Loading or drawing a handgun before the range command –“load & make ready”.

An accidental discharge.

Handling ammunition in a safety area.

Unholstering or de-bagging a handgun anywhere other than in a designated safety area or on the firing line.

Moving with your finger in the trigger guard unless in the process of engaging a target.

Having a finger in the trigger guard or on the trigger whilst reloading or trying to clear a jamb.

Putting more than 10 rounds in a magazine.

 

 

 

Failure to abide by these rules of range conduct, may result in loss of club membership or being barred from the range or other loss of shooting privileges - subject to a decision by the Committee.
